O'Connor, Parsons, Lane & Noble Is Offering an Essay Scholarship Contest for Current and Incoming Law School Students
Application is now open, and the firm encourages eligible students to apply before the deadline to take advantage of this opportunity.
SPRINGFIELD, N.J., April 5, 2023 (Newswire.com) - The attorneys of O'Connor, Parsons, Lane & Noble (OPLN) are proud to announce the Annual Graduate School Scholarship. Open to law students attending or accepted to an accredited law school in the U.S., this $1,500 scholarship is meant to help cover the cost of tuition and other school-related expenses. The hope is that opportunities like this encourage more students to pursue their passion in the legal field without having too much of a financial burden.
The Importance of Scholarships and Other Financial Aid
It is no secret that law school is expensive. According to Forbes, the average tuition cost for in-state students at a public university law school is $84,558. The amount for those attending a private school is nearly double, at around $147,936. ABA reports that 90% of law school students borrowed student loans for their education.
Due to this rise in law school tuition, students are often deterred from the profession due to the sheer cost. However, individual scholarship programs like the one offered by OPLN help offset those costs and make law school a reality for many students.
How the Scholarship for Law Students Works
To be considered, students simply need to be currently attending law school or have been accepted to a law program as of January 2023. Next, students must submit an essay of 500 words or less answering the following prompt:
What are the most commonly misdiagnosed conditions that may lead to a medical malpractice lawsuit, and what are the legal repercussions of each?
Judges are looking for a well-crafted essay that explores the topic in a unique way. Students should not exceed the word count and may want to reread their essay thoroughly to make sure there aren't any grammatical errors.
Applications for the essay scholarship competition are due no later than September 15, 2023. The winner will then be selected by September 30, 2023, and subsequently notified. Students are encouraged to include their contact information and proof of enrollment with their submission.
