NY Car Dealers Unite to Form the NY Auto Giant and Consumers Win

NY car dealers unite to from the NY Auto Giant and conusmer win. For the best selection of Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Lexus, Audi, Chevrolet, Cadillac and Long Island used cars

Looking back on 2009 some will remember the automotive industry as the year of "Consolidation" or maybe the year of "Cut Backs" but to a very unique group of NY car dealers it will be admired as a year of growth. Last year saw GM's consolidation plan of reducing their dealership count by more than 2000 dealers begin to take shape but this group of NY car dealers grew in numbers. We watched Honda cut out their F1 racing team and Toyota reduce truck production but this same group doubled their NY Toyota dealers from two to four. We watched consumer demands increase but once again this exceptional group of NY car dealers achieved the best customer service index score in years. In a year where businesses in almost every industry focused on cutting back this group of NY car dealers united and formed the NY Auto Giant and thrived.
The NY Auto Giant has grown through 2009 into a 17 dealership group of NY car dealers all located on Long Island. The NY Auto Giant offers Chevrolet, Nissan, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, Cadillac, Lexus, Audi and the largest collection of Long Island used cars anywhere. If you live on Long Island the chances are you have either purchased or serviced your car at a member of the NY Auto Giant or you know someone that has. The question is why so much growth and success from one group of NY car dealers when all others are struggling? As the Chief Operating Officer of the NY Auto Giant John Pickett can answer this question best. Mr. Pickett replied, "First thing we did was to avoid what I call the "efficiency trap". Peter Drucker once said, "Efficiency is doing things right, effectiveness is doing the right things". Being efficient for us meant forming one cohesive dealer group, leveraging our combined buying power and eliminating overlapping positions that were previously necessary for individually operated dealerships to save thousands of dollars monthly. Stopping at just being efficient is the trap that many of us fall into and can be the death of the growth of a business. If you want to grow any business you have to take the next step, which is doing the right things. Doing the right things for us meant to define a standard of customer service that was unsurpassed by any competitor and then supporting every staff member in every department to achieve that level of customer service. For some of the members of our group this simply meant improving the dealership facility to better serve our customers. We completely rebuilt our Atlantic Chevrolet, Atlantic Cadillac, Millennium Toyota and Atlantic Audi facilities to new state of the art dealerships that better serve our sales and service customers. For other members of the group improving customer service meant adding more support staff or more training for existing staff, in other cases increasing sales staff to allow each customer to have more individual time with a true product specialist. As a result no matter what dealership member of the NY Auto Giant customers visit they will be treated with respect by a friendly and knowledgeable staff member that has been empowered to do whatever necessary to make every customers feel like a member of our family. Car buyers responded to the dealership members of the NY Auto Giant by choosing them to buy their next car and service their existing one bringing us the growth we experienced in 2009. We will continue to grow in 2010 and are constantly considering new dealerships as possible members of the NY Auto Giant."
