Local Oncologist Published Research Of Breast Cancer Treatment in Dove Medical Press

Dr. J Thaddeus Beck, of Highlands Oncology Group (HOG), Northwest Arkansas’ premier cancer treatment facility, authored research which has been published by Dove Medical Press. The research, entitled “potential role for mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors as first-line therapy in hormone receptor–positive advanced breast cancer,” focuses on potential treatment options for advanced breast cancer patients. 

The article studies the effects of a targeted medley of treatment therapies with the goal of maintaining greater anti-tumor effects and also delaying or reversing treatment resistance.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women besides skin cancers. About 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in the United States in 2015, according to American Cancer Society estimates.

In 2015, there are more than 2.8 million women with a history of breast cancer in the U.S., according to breastcancer.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to breast cancer awareness. This includes women currently being treated and women who have finished treatment.
