NWA Cancer Treatment Group to Participate in 3rd Annual Lung Cancer Alliance Conference

Highlands Oncology Group to Participate in 3rd Annual Screening and Care Conference Hosted By the Lung Cancer Alliance

Joanna Thompson, director of the Center for Chest Care and the Northwest Arkansas Lung Cancer Screening Program, and Dr. Daniel Bradford, a founding physician of Highlands Oncology Group, will participate in the 3rd annual Collaborating for Improved Screening and Care Conference hosted by the Lung Cancer Alliance. The conference will be from Oct. 6 to Oct. 7 at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington D.C.

The conference will bring together health care professionals from lung cancer screening and care programs across the country to meet, share lessons learned, troubleshoot problems and identify continued areas of need in lung cancer screening programs, according to the Lung Cancer Alliance.

Thompson sits on the event planning committee and will act as a moderator and Dr. Bradford will participate on a panel delivering a presentation on “Effective Use of Multi-Disciplinary Clinical Teams in Screening Programs.”

The Lung Cancer Alliance is the only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to providing support and advocacy for people living with or at risk for the disease, according to its website.

The Northwest Arkansas Lung Cancer Screening Program is the only program of its kind in Arkansas certified by the Lung Cancer Alliance and the only non-hospital program certified nationwide.

The Free Lung Cancer Screening Program is sponsored by MANA Imaging, MANA Pulmonary Medicine, Cardiovascular Surgical Clinic of Northwest Arkansas, P.A., Highlands Oncology Group, P.A. and Hope Cancer Resources.

Lung cancer causes more deaths than the next three most common cancers combined, which includes colon, breast and pancreatic cancer, according to the American Lung Association (ALA).

As the leading cancer treatment and research facility in Northwest Arkansas, Highlands Oncology Group is dedicated to the advancement of cancer treatment and to providing patients with the best possible care and results.
