NTPC Taps Into The Expertise Of IMT Nagpur For A 6-Day Residential MDP

IMT Nagpur hosted an exhaustive Management Development Programme for the Senior Management of National Thermal Power Corporation - better known as NTPC, between the 24th and 29th of september 2012.

IMT Nagpur hosted an exhaustive Management Development Programme for the Senior Management of National Thermal Power Corporation - better known as NTPC, between the 24th and 29th of september 2012. The MDP, spread over 6 days, accommodated carefully scripted 17 sessions by some of the world-class Faculty members and Researchers of IMT Nagpur, for NTPC senior executives of the AGM-level and above.

In all, 19 Officers of the ranks of Senior Superintendent, AGM, and DGM, formed the core group of participants in this high-power MDP held within the IMT Nagpur Campus. The MDP was conducted by a select team of 14 Faculty members of IMT Nagpur, and was headed by the Director of the renowned institution, Dr. SubhashDatta.Infact, apart from setting the objective of the entire MDP in his welcome address to the participants from NTPC, Dr. Datta also took on some of the challenging sessions like the one on 'Decision Making ,Problem Solving and Decision Methodology'.

"The MDP for Senior Officials of NTPC limited was very interactive," opined Mr. S.P. Agrawal, DGM (EE), NTPC. "The topics scheduled were most useful and well presented. Outbound program was certainly a wonderful experience. Overall the program was organized in an excellent manner."

The topics covered for the MDP for NTPC over the six days at IMT Nagpur , were as diverse as Communication Skills /Soft Skills for Managerial Excellence, Finance for Non Finance Managers, Psychometric Testing -I, Budget and Budget Control, ,Creativity and Innovation, Conflict Management, Impact of Personality on Performance, and Bringing Attitudinal &Behavioural Changes among Personnel.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my session at the MDP with NTPC's senior managers atIMT -Nagpur," remarked Professor T. K. Chatterjee, Associate Professor-Marketing at IMT Nagpur, who addressed the session on 'Change Management / How to remain Contemporary'. "The topic was 'change management' and I had myapprehensions about how this would be taken, since NTPC is a public sector organization. But I was amazedand pleasantlysurprised to find that the audience actively participated throughout my lectureand could relate to my talks closely. Overall it was a memorable experience."


The MDP was punctuated with an 'Outbound' day (26th of September 2012), where the participants were taken to ground to observe how various aspects of the MDP translated in real-life scenario. The first and last day of the MDP was also marked by 'Art of Living' sessions for the participants from NTPC. IMT Nagpur has emerged as a favoured MDP destination for corporate and public sector undertakings, owing to its ability to grasp the requirement and customize the programmes accordingly. The NTPC MDP certainly goes down as a feather in the IMT Nagpur cap.
