NSTF Malta Science Week 2011 In Collaboration With MCST
Online, March 28, 2011 (Newswire.com) - NSTF has over the past years developed a Science Programme together with the Malta Chamber of Scientists and the Malta Council of Science and Technology to increase the interest of students in Science and Technology, and encourage them to read for degrees in science and take up careers within this sphere. The peak of all these programmes is the NSTF Science Week in collaboration with MCST this year being at Villa Bighi, Kalkara between the 3rd and 10th April 2011. It targets students, youths, young researchers and entrepreneurs from Malta.
Students will be exhibiting their scientific and technological projects and schools are invited to visit. These projects aim to promote, together with partner organizations, a positive exchange of scientific ideas amongst students at a national and international level by celebrating the positive applications of science in all areas of Maltese society. They encourage new forms of interaction, which reflect the ever increasing importance of networks, linkages, partnerships and mobility. Students with the winning projects will then go on represent Malta at the EU Contest for Young Scientists in Helsinki, the Expo Science International in Slovakia and the Belgian Science Expo.
This prestigious event is also aimed at the corporate sector. Activities specifically designed for integrating education and business include lectures, half-day conferences, seminars, debates and demonstrations amongst others. These activities foster awareness on the importance of Research and Development, the cornerstone of a competitive, knowledge-based economy. They connect tomorrow's inventors and creations with the world of business.
Schools are invited to visit throughout the week and the general public can experience the students' enthusiasm about their own projects and share their ideas on Saturday 9th April between 3:00pm and 6:00pm.
