NovaTEM, LLC Announces Launch of the TEMSENSE Advanced Geophysical Classification (AGC) Sensor

The TEMSENSE AGC Sensor System

Russell Jeffries, founder and Chief Executive Officer of NovaTEM, LLC, has announced the launch of the TEMSENSETM sensor system, which represents a major technology development for the detection and classification of buried Unexploded Ordnance (UXO), a legacy of more than a century of military training and testing at thousands of sites in the U.S. and the world.

“New technologies have been needed to provide for the accurate, efficient, and cost-effective means for remediation of residual contamination by UXO and discarded military munitions (DMM)”, said Jeffries. “The system may be used to execute periodic remediation efforts to render areas safe for further DoD operations. However, the primary market will focus on efforts where the goal is to remediate prior operational bombing targets and training ranges for the eventual return of those lands for civilian use. In either role, the TEMSENSETM platform is designed to address these needs.”

The TEMSENSE™ platform employs an electromagnetic induction (EMI) sensor array for the detection and classification of UXO in high clutter environments, and is the state-of-the-art in Advanced Geophysical Classification (AGC), having been approved by the DoD Advanced Geophysical Classification Accreditation Program (DAGCAP) for AGC. “The system may be used in both dynamic and cued modes to detect and classify buried UXO and DMM targets,” said Jeffries. “It is currently the only platform of its size to be approved under DAGCAP. This capability is critical to all stakeholders concerned with accurate, efficient, and cost-effective remediation of contaminated sites.”

Jeffries also noted, “although this technology was designed for the UXO remediation application, the TEMSENSE™ system may be used in any situation where the detection and location of a buried metallic target may be required. This makes the platform ideally suited to support environmental surveys of any public or private land.”

NovaTEM, LLC will be supporting government and private sector organizations associated with DAGCAP related activities, through the lease of the TEMSENSE™ platform, as well as providing training in AGC methods and certification. The company will also conduct environmental surveys for non-military civilian applications.
