Northwest Physicians Network Continues Explosive Growth

Northwest Physicians Network of Washington, LLC (NPN), an independent practice association and the largest multi-specialty provider network in Washington, has continued its rapid expansion in Washington at a time when there has been much consolidation among delivery systems.

According to Dr. Rick MacCornack, Chief Executive Officer at NPN, “We believe there is an important role that private practices have in their local communities and NPN's growth and the success of its affiliated providers demonstrates that private practices can thrive when it seems the world is going in the opposite direction.  NPN’s member providers gain the strength and support of a large organization to assist in meeting the requirements of an increasingly regulated industry.  This enables providers to focus on delivering quality care.  As an organization we are driven to assure that patients are able to exercise choice, receive nursing assistance in managing chronic conditions and continue to experience convenience in receiving their care in their local community.”

"Many physicians would like to remain independent rather than being employed. But to succeed in private practice they need help navigating all of the changes and administrative demands that they're faced with. That's where we can help. NPN affiliated independent practices can elect to participate in our diverse portfolio of health plan contracts, gaining new patients and sources of revenue."

Dr. Scott Kronlund, Chief Medical Officer of NPN

Created in 1995 with about 250 participating providers NPN has grown to over 970 community-based primary care and specialty providers in 300 locations throughout twelve counties in Washington. In the past twelve months, the network of providers has increased by 80% with a similar increase in the number of ambulatory surgical centers and imaging centers available to patients.

Scott Kronlund, MD, Chief Medical Officer at NPN, commented on the appeal of NPN and the IPA model. “Many physicians would like to remain independent rather than being employed.  But to succeed in private practice they need help navigating all of the changes and administrative demands that they're faced with. That's where we can help. NPN affiliated independent practices can elect to participate in our diverse portfolio of health plan contracts, gaining new patients and sources of revenue. They have access to industry-leading clinical integration tools to improve efficiency, communication and care coordination designed for the private practice setting.  NPN’s administrative support services are designed to reduce the administrative burden on practices, allowing more time for direct patient care.”

Headquartered in Tacoma, Washington, NPN providers offer clinical services ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. NPN's network complements its 56 medical specialties with over 200 diagnostic and treatment facilities throughout the region providing a full-spectrum of medical services, including community-based ambulatory surgical and endoscopy centers, cancer care, pain management centers, advanced imaging centers, skilled nursing facilities, and  rehabilitative services.

NPN recently announced the launch of a new interactive website highlighting its growth, member benefits and support services. For more information, visit www.npnwa.net.
