North American Bancard Offers Semi-Integrated Solutions

Security Enhancement Reduces Liability to Merchant POS Processing

North American Bancard (NAB) is offering semi-integrated solutions (SIS) as part of its point-of-sale (POS) offerings available now to merchants. Along with chip card (EMV) usage, semi-Integrated solutions enhance and further protect credit card transactions. Celebrating its 25th year in business, North American Bancard is proud to continue its leadership in payment card processing with these additions.

With the migration away from swipe cards, EMV chip cards create authenticated and unique transaction data, so fraud is less likely to occur. As an addition to this process, the SIS process takes the merchant’s point-of-sale equipment out of the equation and sends the encrypted transaction data directly to the payment processor.

"Semi-integrated solutions keep credit card data from pathways where hackers can access the customer's data. By bypassing merchants and encrypting the credit card data so it can arrive directly at processing gateways, a merchant's liability is reduced."

“We are pleased to provide the latest cutting-edge technology designed to protect both our merchant clients and their customers,” says Justin Muntean, senior vice president of sales at North American Bancard. “Semi-integrated solutions keep credit card data from pathways where hackers can access the customer’s data. By bypassing merchants and encrypting the credit card data so it can arrive directly at processing gateways, a merchant’s liability is reduced.”

The SIS technology includes supported terminals that can be used in conjunction with merchant chip card/EMV point-of-sale technology. Since October 2015, the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) shifted liability for fraudulent transactions to merchants, if they use the least secure swipe technology for credit card transactions in processing the transactions.

PCI DSS is a stringent security standard that governs how organizations must protect the credit card data they have in their possession. Even small merchants are subject to the PCI DSS. Non-compliance can mean fines that are passed along from the major processors to the individual credit card-accepting merchants.

Security is the prime consideration for credit card processing for companies of any size. North American Bancard works with merchants to ensure they have the appropriate equipment to securely process credit, debit, gift and loyalty cards, and all variations of payment processing.

North American Bancard has created an environment for merchants where applying for an account, extremely competitive rates, and receipt of free, pre-programmed equipment make it straightforward to start accepting credit cards. North American Bancard considers customer service and security of paramount importance.
