New York Contemporary Portrait Artist Available For Commissions
New York, July 10, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Contemporary portrait artist Nicole Alger is available to work on commissioned art pieces. A classically-trained portrait artist, Alger’s work rests at the intersection of abstraction and realism. She cites the work of Edgar Degas and Gustav Klimt as inspirations, producing work that is imaginative, narrative, and free flowing in nature. Portrait artists for hire often limit themselves to classical realism, yet Alger's work moves beyond the confines of this artistic style to work with clients to achieve
Further underlying her artwork is inspiration emanating from Buddhism and Greek mythology, as well as European Renaissance art and the religious imagery of the Neo-Classical and Post-Impressionism periods. Alger's work of the last five years has been particularly inspired by the colors associated with each of the body's seven chakras according to the Indian chakra system. Alger uses these colors, instead of light, to guide her in creating forms that are free flowing, spontaneous, and guided by her own intuition as she builds on the piece of art each day. This allows her to create creative pieces that incorporate the ideas of balance, self-knowledge, and healing. Her artwork is a deeply personal reflection of her own voyage towards achieving greater self-awareness and understanding of her inner life.
Alger, whose work has been bought and sold privately for almost a decade, is available for the commission of portraiture, still lifes, and landscapes. Her work was recently shown at the Women Made Gallery in Chicago, Illinois and in an online exhibition for Manhattan Arts called The Healing Power of Art.
