New Spa and Salon Management Course Introduces in London
Online, July 31, 2013 (Newswire.com) - The esteemed London School of Beauty & Make-Up is introducing a new course in conjunction with the University of Derby Buxton. The course is aimed at those wanting to follow a career in spa and salon management.
Noticing the gap in the educational sector for such a course, both institutions combined to create a professional qualification for industry managers above an NVQ level three.
The course will be split into three, four-month modules. Each will be preceded by an introductory seminar to give students a clearer idea about what is required. The course is a three-year programme and focused on work-based and independent learning. Students will therefore be able to learn while gaining first hand knowledge of the industry during work placements.
To qualify for a place on the course, students must be at least eighteen years old and have GCSE qualifications in English and maths. They must also have a level three qualification or sufficient industry experience.
Isobel Stockdale, assistant subject manager for international spa management at the University of Derby Buxton, said: 'We realise people have very busy lives and often don't want to, or don't have the resources to move to a different city to study. This unique concept allows students to be taught by experts in this field and have access to the strong links the University of Derby Buxton has built up with the spa industry globally while remaining in London.'
Claire Edgecombe, managing director of the London School of Beauty and Make-up: "We are delighted to welcome the university to the London School of Beauty and Make-up to deliver their exciting new degree. The synergy between our organisations allows us to offer fantastic learning opportunities in our wonderful facilities, giving students the ability to expand their knowledge without the need to relocate."
A special launch event is being held on Friday 23 August at the school from 11 am until 3 pm, for prospective candidates looking for more information.
It looks like thanks to increased options in education and a greater level of professional qualification, the future of the relaxing spa break in the UK is assured for years to come. Good news for all of us spa lovers. -
