New Social Networking Site 'THE SOCIAL SHRINK' Offers Advice To and From 'Everyday People'
Online, February 28, 2011 (Newswire.com) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA - With the increased presence of social networking in everyday lives, a new website, THE SOCIAL SHRINK, has launched to serve as an interactive platform for people to ask and answer questions in what the site refers to as a 'social conversation.'
THE SOCIAL SHRINK launched in November 2010 and has since reached over 10,000 visitors per month who offer their own insight into other people's questions. The social networking site aims to provide an outlet for people to share their stories, experiences and give people a voice for others to hear. Integrating this into a main platform provides everyone the opportunity to learn from one another's perspective and experiences.
"I visit the site everyday and read the questions other users have submitted," said an online user who goes by the name 'Cherish3,' "I enjoy seeing questions asked that I have wondered myself. Hearing the advice from THE SOCIAL SHRINK as well as the advice of other contributors really provides a refreshing perspective and shows that there isn't just one 'right way' to approach a scenario."
THE SOCIAL SHRINK targets an audience of all ages, ranging from teenagers dealing with high school life to middle-aged adults who ask questions about marriage and divorce. Topics range from relationship and dating advice to fitness, money and career advice.
"The combination of easy access and online anonymity allows people to easily get advice from a plethora of 'everyday users' who very well may be in a similar situation," remarks Dr. Jen Carter, owner of a private psychology practice in Los Altos, CA. "It provides an open dialogue for many people who may not feel comfortable going to see a psychologist due to whatever stigma may be attached to it. This site allows a main flow of advice to users as if one is simply talking to a friend over the phone."
THE SOCIAL SHRINK welcomes questions from all users and updates their site as often as the questions come in. Online users are encouraged to ask questions and then to also join in on the conversation of others' questions. The dialogue is thus two-way, enabling users to both ask questions but also share their perspective and advice for others.
