New Project - Will Telling Stories Sell Bitcoin to The World?

A writer-entrepreneur plans to launch an e-fiction project on the internet this summer, with the aim to help to educate the world on Bitcoin.

Gregor J Sutton, from Glasgow, UK, says: "I've wanted to create an e-book or art piece related to Bitcoin for some time, and now I have an idea for it."

The project, dubbed "Reflections on the Crypto-Phoenix City", will consist of a series of short stories and flash fiction based on Bitcoin current affairs.

"The aim is firstly to entertain, secondly to educate on cryptocurrencies and their implications for economies and societies, adding philosophical reflection but in a way that most people can understand," says the 31 year old freelancer.

The setting for the first batch of the series is the Polish capital city of Warsaw, where in June this year plans were announced to install two Bitcoin ATMs.

"I chose the setting of Warsaw because it is an example of a supporting environment for Bitcoin. Besides this, Warsaw is an interesting and forward-looking city which I have visited and which I know about. However, this project is not necessarily limited to any particular setting, subject or medium, for that matter. There is scope for expansion and I want this project to be on-going. Developments will be announced on my blog at www.gregorjsutton.com/bitcoin-project ."

Mr. Sutton will publish the finished work on the project's own website. Readers will access the series online and download for a modest one-off charge or subscription - payable only in Bitcoin.

It remains to be seen whether the project will succeed in its goal. "Like any business project, there's no guarantee it will work the first time. However, I'm committed, prepared to adapt to feedback and willing to provide what the market wants."

Currently, Mr. Sutton is seeking collaboration and funding to bring the project to fruition. "I'm prepared to do all the writing, but I need to outsource editing, web design and marketing. Anyone interested in the project is welcome to inquire," He says.

As for funding, Mr. Sutton has appropriately opted for crowdfunding through the platform BitcoinStarter.com. "The project doesn't require a very large amount of funding, but I do need it nevertheless. The traditional financial route for a business plan does not suit my needs. Crowdfunding in Bitcoin is a clear choice, not only because it holds certain advantages over crowdfunding in fiat currencies such as lower transaction fees, but because I should practice what I preach."

The plan is to complete the first batch of stories through the course of July 2014. "Bitcoin has the potential to change the way we all do business, for the better. The challenge however is to persuade the world at large of the benefits of cryptocurrencies, and that is what this project is about."
