New Ownership Brings Arcade to Children's Dental Office!

Good oral hygiene is important for everyone, but especially for children. Establishing dental care at a young age instills good habits and is a proactive approach at preventative care. A pediatric dentist can provide the best care for your child.

Authorities in the field of dentistry recommend establishing dental care for children by age one. This not only helps to ensure they receive proper care from the beginning, but also eases them into feeling comfortable with visiting the dentist. Finding a good dentist can be tricky and is an important decision. Specialized training in pediatric dentistry is essential. Pediatric dentists receive an additional 2 to 3 years of education, learning about behavior, the dental development and prevention specific to each stage of growth.

Little Smiles, a Las Vegas children's dental clinic has recently changed hands and is now owned and operated by Dr. William Dahlke and Dr. Carla Lalande. Both completed their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine in 2006, where they graduated Summa Cum Laude. As they began working in the field, each one of them came to realize they were most passionate about working with children and pursued their certificates in Pediatric Dentistry; Dr. Dahlke at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine in 2012, and Dr. Lalande at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in 2008.

Their aim at Little Smiles is to make a trip to the dentist an enjoyable one for children of all ages. Kids are drawn to the 'child-friendly' safari-themed office, which includes a play area and even an arcade! They love the fun environment and can quickly become comfortable with the dentists as a result of their experience and approach with the children. Dr. Dahlke and Dr. Lalande understand it is most important to gain the child's confidence and help them to overcome apprehension. Services provided include everything from regular check-ups and cleanings to in-office oral sedation.

Education is a top priority at Little Smiles. This includes educating parents on what to expect as their children develop, what to watch for and tips on prevention. They even offer advice on products like toothpastes and sippy cups! Both parents and children need to be informed on developing good habits when it comes to their dental regimen from infancy through adolescence.
