VotCen - “Your Voting Assistant” is a user-friendly productivity mobile app developed to provide convenience and increase voter turnout in Fort Bend County’s November 2018 midterm elections. The app is available for download on Apple and Android marketplaces for free.

With the huge surge in voter registration throughout Fort Bend County, which has one of the most heated congressional races in the nation and our entire state, it was important to provide a tool that is simple and convenient to support the GOTV (Get Out The Vote) movement.

HOW IT WORKS:

Step 1:  Open Votcen app on any mobile device.

Step 2:  Select the Voting Centers button. The closest polling locations are revealed based on the current location.

“When he [Eddie Sajjad] began building the app in August, his mission was to provide nonpartisan information about each candidate. People can find short biographical information about candidates, but there are also website links for learning more.

“Ray Ali, 38, who has a video production company and has helped make political ads for candidates, said that even though he’s politically active, it’s hard for him to remember all of the people running for office when he walks into a voting booth,” the Houston Chronicle reported.

“With the huge surge in voter registration throughout Fort Bend County and our entire state, it was important to provide a tool that is simple and convenient to support the GOTV (Get Out The Vote) movement,” said Eddie Sajjad, CEO, of PointofIT.com.

The mobile app also provides a directory of candidates on the ballot in Fort Bend County and other useful features including a shareable favorites folder and a reminder setting so no one forgets to vote.

In 2018, VotCen will only be available for Fort Bend County, which is the fastest-growing large county in the U.S. 2013-2016, with a current population of 764,828 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2018). Plans to expand to over 100 counties by 2020 are underway and anyone can request that their county be added next on the VotCen website.
