New Homebuyer Program Launched in Tucson to Address Low Homeownership Average
'Ready, Set, Own! created to assist Tucsonans in overcoming the obstacles of homeownership by connecting prospective homebuyers with local resources.
Tucson, AZ, October 14, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Ready, Set, Own!, a community homeownership program launching initially in Tucson, AZ, is designed to help increase the number of American homeowners. The program is sponsored by Radian Guaranty, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of private mortgage insurance and has the full support of Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild. "Tucsonans considering buying a home need good information," said Rothschild. "I'm very pleased that Tucson will be the first city to launch the Ready, Set, Own! homebuyer assistance program."
The current national homeownership rate is 64.7%, but in Tucson, that average is only 50%, per the US Census Bureau/Pew Research Center. The Ready, Set, Own! program will help homebuyers by:
- Identifying barriers and obstacles to homeownership that exist in the community.
- Pairing prospective homeowners with credit counselors and mortgage lenders who will serve as co-mentors and strategic guides through the savings and qualification process, as well as help more on the path to responsible and sustainable homeownership.
- Providing community education and awareness events.
