New Book Shows How to Be an Audiovisual Producer During Pandemic Times

Sibling filmmakers wrote a book for those who work in the entertainment industry and students who want to work in these challenging times

Being an audiovisual producer entails having various qualities and aptitudes on both interior sets and exterior locations. For filmmakers Priscilla and Linda Rojas, organization is the key to making an audiovisual production possible and that is what they wanted to reveal in their new book, as well as topics covering creativity and emotional intelligence and, now, health protocols to limit the possibility of infection during pandemic times.

The book entitled The Anatomy of an Audiovisual Producer: a crew and a single vision, written by Linda Rojas and Priscilla Rojas, can be found on Amazon, Kindle and The Book Patch.

“This publication seeks to guide and instruct all those who are in the entertainment industry and students in areas such as digital media, TV or cinema. If someone already has experience in the field and just wants to update some terms and learn some tips, this is the right book. Our book updates will include a new chapter dedicated to how to film during pandemic times, how to do online remote casting calls and how to work remotely with your crew in an efficient way," said Linda Rojas.

Priscilla Rojas said that they did their best to make The Anatomy of an Audiovisual Producer a book with film terms, tips, production steps and procedures to mitigate and limit the possibility of infection during any type of production. The producers also highlight the importance of paying close attention to each production phase - preproduction, production and post-production - for the well-being of the project.

Linda Rojas explained the important factors to keep in mind during any production project. "Every time we have a production, the first step we do is a table read, followed by scouting locations and getting the permits that we will have to have for the movie. Depending on the type of project, we might also select the crew and the cast. But the most important thing is the PASSION to make productions and, of course, taking care of the production TIME because time is money."

Priscilla Rojas followed up. "Producers also need to develop public relations skills. Knowing the right people and organizations helps you get many of the permits and even solves situations that could happen on set. You can even get a script from a famous writer or fund your film finance by practicing networking skills or meeting new people. Anyone can reach Hollywood or any dream job if they pursue their dreams with a clear vision of their project, organization, responsibility, and TALENT. Being talented is only one step."

The book, now available in Spanish, can be found on Amazon Kindle. Coming in August 2020, the English version will include health protocols.
