New Book "Her Name in the Sky" by Kelly Quindlen Provides a Much-Needed, Heartfelt Storyline for the Under-Represented Lesbian Community in the Field of LGBT Undefined

Vanderbilt University and Teach for America alum Kelly Quindlen announces her first book, Her Name in the Sky, a lesbian romance novel that is breaking barriers for females everywhere.

Popular lesbian fanfiction author Kelly Quindlen (http://littleoases.tumblr.com/) is excited to publish her first book, Her Name in the Sky.

Although the gay romance genre has been steadily rising over the past few years, there's more of a focus on romantic relationships between males as opposed to females. Author Kelly Quindlen was frustrated by this, so she created a Tumblr account and started writing fanfiction based on lesbian characters from popular television shows.

Quindlen was surprised by the large amount of positive feedback she received on her writing, as well as the fast increase in followers on her Tumblr account. Feeling inspired, Quindlen decided to write her own fictional story - a coming out book about two high school girls dealing with feelings that are frowned upon in their conservative, Catholic community.

An English major graduating Magna Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University, Quindlen has loved reading and writing her entire life - particularly fiction. She was tired of the lack of lesbian novels available to her, so she decided to write one herself.

This beautiful coming-of-age novel tells the story of Hannah, a 17-year-old high schooler who is dealing with the strong romantic feelings she has for her best friend, Baker. Hannah must learn how to address her own feelings while simultaneously dealing with the rules of her community. The novel presents readers with an emotional storyline that addresses real issues that LGBT teens must deal with, while still remaining heartfelt and funny.

Readers are already thrilled with this much-needed addition to the field of gay young adult fiction, calling it "absolutely fantastic" and "a rich story dealing with important issues." Quindlen has stated that she was happy to provide an honest, three-dimensional look at the journey of coming out and dealing with your own hardships and struggles.

Her Name in the Sky (Softcover and eBook; January 2014; $2.99; 9781310545313) is a book written for anyone looking to take comfort in true, honest characters that encounter the realistic, sad, and sometimes beautiful consequences of being LGBT in an evolving world.

The eBook version of Her Name in the Sky can be purchased at https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/402280 and is available on your smartphone, computer, or tablet. You can connect with Kelly on Twitter at https://twitter.com/kellyquindlen and on Tumblr at http://littleoases.tumblr.com/.
