She Saw the Murder; the Murderers Saw Her

Kansas City, Missouri – May 18, 2015 – In his new novel, Change of Life, author Kent Keefer writes the saga of Mary, a mother who witnesses a murder. The big question: Did the murderers witness her? With this question always in mind, and with her son along for the ride, she becomes immersed into a world of questionable cops, drug runners, and the tarnished, but handsome F.B.I. agent Clay Mark Walker.

“An elongated shadow precedes the tall man stepping into the flickering light like a villain taking stage. Just feet away, he stares right at her. Seeing him this close, seeing him as plain and obvious as death, she’s struck again by the naïve pretense of her notion of defending her son. Her eyes swim, then dim, but she grits her teeth and squints to will them back to acuity. A strange, sober peace passes over her as she stills her knees with fists balled to white knots, corrals her stomach with iron-gripped jaws. The peace is almost as powerful as the fear, brings with it a pale serenity that comes from knowing there is only this one choice left to her: Whatever these men do, she is not leaving this step.” – from Change of Life

Change of Life is a traveling novel, taking the reader to New Orleans, Cuba, Miami, and the mysterious Cajun world of the Mississippi backwaters. It is a story of characters: the sympathetic Mary, the redemption-seeking Clay Walker, and the gypsy-like Mrs. Cloutier, who seems more connected to another world than this one. It is also a story of adventure, mystery, romance, intrigue, and cliffhangers.

“With language and setting that could easily be described as cinematic, Change of Life offers its readers a fast-moving story that feels reminiscent of The Godfather, The Thornbirds, and Scarface. It is a novel to blissfully lose oneself in.” – Jeff Vande Zande, author of American Poet

Change of Life is available in its entirety as a Kindle book (ASIN: B00VWFZB6A) for $8.97. It is also being released as a six-part Kindle saga, starting with the first 100-page installment, Witness to Kill (ASIN: B00VQM6DJS) for 99 cents. Review copies are available.
