National Ballroom Competition Hosts Hockey Celebrity, Leaders of Medicine and Advocacy in Support of Early Detection and Creation of ManogramTM
Online, June 9, 2011 (Newswire.com) - If you like ABC's megahit Dancing with the Stars, Arthur Murray Dance Studios of the Boston area will host their national ballroom dance competition at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel from June 16-18, 2011. This three day, annual dance festival presents top performances by amateurs and professionals. This year's event will feature Dance for a Cure of Prostate Cancer from 7:30 - 9:30pm to benefit AdMeTech Foundation's programs in education, awareness and research. Derek Sanderson, former Boston Bruins star and Prostate Cancer survivor, along with leaders of medicine and advocacy will speak on the importance of improving early detection of prostate cancer which is critical for saving lives. A fashion show of ballroom and evening gowns from Designs to Shine and jewelry created by DRE Designs will be a part of the Dance for a Cure festivities.
AdMeTech Foundation's Dance for a Cure is a public awareness and fundraising campaign to end the prostate cancer crisis, which strikes as many as 1 in 6 men. The magnitude of this epidemic is similar to that of breast cancer striking 1 in 8 women. However, prostate cancer awareness is lagging behind and men do not have accurate diagnostic tools akin to life-saving mammograms. An American man dies every 16 minutes, even though prostate cancer can be cured when detected early.
