mydeco.com Integrates with Facebook® at f8 Developer Conference
Online, April 22, 2010 (Newswire.com) - mydeco.com today announced that it is one of the first European eCommerce companies integrating the newly launched Facebook Social Plugins. At the f8 Developers Conference, Facebook announced a number of European partner sites which will be partnering with the social site to lead the way in integrating a new set of Facebook Social Plugins powered by the Open Graph.
Facebook's new Social Plugins include the Like button, Activity Feed and Recommendations which bring friends, social activity and relevant interactions to any site off of Facebook.com.
mydeco.com is among a select group of European companies to be integrating the newly launched Facebook Plugins within its e-commerce website. The leading furniture and homewares website, founded in 2007 by Brent Hoberman, co-founder of lastminute.com one of Europe's most successful dotcom businesses, will integrate the new Facebook Social Plugins across the website from April 21st. mydeco.com will integrate the Like, Activity Feed and Recommendations plugins onto key sections of the site, including product pages, user generated content pages, 'Shop by Style' and user profile pages.

Brent Hoberman, mydeco founder and Executive Chairman is confident that integrating Facebook's new Social Plugins will move mydeco.com closer to the company's vision of a 'web 3.0' online shopping experience, blending social commerce with smart search, visualization tools and monetization of content through commerce. Brent commented "Integrating with the social graph moves online commerce up a gear; product reviews are useful, but if you can show consumers what their own friends and connections think about a product online, it becomes a much more personal experience. We see the integration of Facebook throughout mydeco.com as a big step forward in the personalization of the user experience."
Ethan Beard, Director of Facebook Developer Network said "mydeco.com is a great example of a retail website that's using the social graph to provide a more personalized shopping experience. When you can see who likes a product from among your own friends and connections, it's a powerful validation to help consumers make a purchase decision."
mydeco and Facebook are committed to respecting user privacy and providing people with a trusted experience. As always, people have controls to manage how their information is shared. Users can set their controls from their Facebook privacy page.
