Mulberry River Society Earth Day Celebration Gaining Momentum

It is an honor to recognize the collaborative efforts and their vision for preservation of the Mulberry River.

Positive momentum continues to build for the Mulberry River Society April 20, 2018 Earth Day Celebration on the Mulberry River at Byrd’s Adventure Center. The list of event sponsors now includes Tyson Foods providing food and support.  Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc. has provided its recycled plastic composite materials for construction of Mulberry River access signs and additional support for the event. Students from Fayetteville’s “School of Rock” will be joining Nashville Recording Artist Lance Carpenter and Dignitaries Governor Asa Hutchinson, U.S. Senator John Boozman and former U.S. Senator David Pryor and Representative Sarah Capp for the event.

The Mulberry River Society (MRS), Smokey Bear, US Forest Service, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Canoe Club, and other local, state and federal officials will be joining together to “Make a Splash”, as they celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and Earth Day during an afternoon of planned festivities along the Mulberry River. The celebration will officially dedicate the newly restored High Bank and Indian Creek access points on the nationally designated Wild and Scenic Mulberry River, located in Franklin, Johnson, and Crawford Counties, Arkansas.

Adding to the celebration, the USFS has nominated MRS for a National Enduring Volunteer Service Award to recognize their dedicated work on the High Bank and Indian Creek projects. The restoration of these access points is the result of a collaborative effort between MRS volunteers, the USFS, AGFC, and ACC. Former Arkansas Governor and US Senator David Pryor will be honored and presented with an MRS Lifetime Achievement Award and Tom Perry as MRS volunteer of the year. It is an honor to recognize the collaborative efforts and their vision for preservation of the Mulberry River.

The event headquarters will be at the Byrd’s Adventure Center on Hwy 215 and guided tours of the High Bank and Indian Creek River Access Landings, Educational Booths and The Commemorative Floatilla will begin at noon. The School of Rock will perform on the Byrd’s River Stage at 3:00 p.m. At 4:00 p.m., the Awards Ceremony hosted by emcee Representative Sarah Capp and MRS President Hugh Earnest. BBQ dinner will then be provided and entertainment continues featuring Ozark’s own Nashville Recording Artist, Lance Carpenter. See the website for VIP Sponsorship (Tables & Rafts) Opportunities.
