Motivational Author Proposes 3 Secrets to Live the Life You Love

3 Tips to Keep On Keeping On Even After Failure. Motivational author and speaker Shawn Anderson knows a few secrets about getting up after life knocks us down.

Having interviewed hundreds of people who persevered after experiencing significant failure or tragedy, Anderson has insight into what it takes to continue to believe in a goal and keep going after it despite negative events and circumstances.

“It’s a guarantee that the bigger the goal, the more opportunities life has to punch us in the gut and potentially stop us from reaching it,” Anderson shares. “ But life was not meant to be lived small, and if we let failure stop us even once, our potential and contribution become smaller.”

Anderson shares three tips to encourage people to keep going even after failure smacks them:

TIP #1: Choose to be the best version of you.
“Never stop believing in your ‘deep down’...that part of you that really knows what you desire in life. That’s who you are…that’s who you were meant to be,” Anderson states. “It’s okay to stagger after being punched hard by life, but never let your ‘deep down’ become ‘stay down.’”

TIP #2: Never expect success too soon. But always expect it.
“It's very rare to experience overnight success. But overnight success often comes with 1,000 nights of extra mile effort,” Anderson shares. “Success happens when we never stop believing...and never stop taking massive action on what we believe.”

TIP #3: Don’t wait for stars to fall into perfect alignment.
“Waiting for the perfect scenario to unfold before we get up and try again is just wasting time,” Anderson shares. “If you want a goal, never let a day go by...perfect or imperfect... where you aren’t going for it. Live and live now because tomorrow may never happen.”

The author of six motivational books, including Amicus 101: A Story About the Pursuit of Purpose and Overcoming Life’s Chaos and Extra Mile America: Stories of Inspiration, Possibility and Purpose, Anderson is also the Founder of Extra Mile America. On November 1, 2014, his organization led 527 cities to declare Extra Mile Day...a day recognizing the capacity we each have to create positive change in ourselves, families, organizations and communities when we “go the extra mile.”

“We get one life. Why not live it full-out and create something that is positively and amazingly memorable,” Anderson concludes. “Never give up on being your very best you.”
