A taste of the West "Welcome to Montana" party hosted by the Double T River Ranch, a new vacation, reunion and retreat gem on the Shields River kicked off HATCHfest 2009 on September. 30th. An open bar, gourmet dinner and private concert featuring home-town girl on the road to big things, Stephanie Quayle got the festival off and running. The events of the evening showcased the ranch barn, a careful renovated 1900 era work of art. HATCHfest mentors and groundbreakers stayed overnight in the ranch house, cottage and new cabins on the river. The resident ranch moose made an appearance around breakfast time while guests enjoyed private fly casting and fishing lessons on the recently stocked pond. Forty students from Montana State University joined the mentors and groundbreakers in the barn to watch the films produced by the groundbreakers, then spent one-on-one time with Academy Award winning cinematographer Haskell Wexler ASC and Emmy-winning CNBC Producer Jeff Pohlman, among others. What a fantastic Day!
