Monsanto and Cheeriodicals Spread Cheer to Patients at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital

Monsanto Cheeriodicals Assembly Team

A team from Monsanto, along with Cheeriodicals delivered cheer in the form of 160 big green boxes to patients at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital during a "Cheeriodicals Day" event held on September 8, 2016.

Cheeriodicals are "big green boxes of cheer" made up of age-appropriate magazines and activity books, room decorations, puzzles, stickers and games for the children to enjoy.

"We depend on donations throughout the year to provide developmental play and comfort, to encourage positive coping and help children be children, despite their circumstances. Hundreds of children received your boxes of cheer today and for a moment they forgot they were in a hospital," said Amy Wynia, Interim Manager, Child-Family Life Services, UMN Masonic Children's. "We thank your employees and the time and energy they took to help families create positive memories in their medical journey".

Approximately 120 employees from Monsanto volunteered their time to assemble the one-of-a-kind children’s gift boxes.

"This is our first time making a delivery to University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital and we couldn’t be more impressed with their facility, staff, and level of patient care. We are very excited to be working with Monsanto to bring smiles to the children and families today," said Ben DeLoach, Event Manager at Cheeriodicals. "This is the third time in a year that Monsanto has led an effort with Cheeriodicals to bring smiles to children’s hospitals.”

“We depend on donations throughout the year to provide developmental play and comfort, to encourage positive coping and help children be children, despite their circumstances. After a special delivery to the hospital, free of charge, by Two Men and a Truck Minneapolis Northwest, Cheeriodicals and a team from Monsanto began handing out the big green boxes of cheer to patient families at the hospital. The boxes were tailored to boys or girls and specific age groups and are sure to bring joy to the children for days and weeks to come.

“We are thrilled to partner with Cheeriodicals to bring smiles and cheer to the children at
Masonic Children’s Hospital,” said Brian Davis, Area Business Manager with Monsanto. “A group of our employees with the Climate Corporation worked with Cheeriodicals to assemble big green box deliveries earlier this year, and it was such an uplifting experience that I wanted our sales team from the Minnesota / Wisconsin area to participate again. We are grateful to be involved in such a meaningful activity."

Cheeriodicals Day is catching on across the country. In addition to Minneapolis, Cheeriodicals has worked with children's hospitals in dozens of markets nationwide including: Phoenix, Birmingham, Cincinnati, Chicago, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Fort Lauderdale, Columbus, New York and Omaha on Cheeriodicals Days and has plans to continue working with corporate sponsors, (including Monsanto again in Indianapolis in November) to bring cheer to children's hospitals.
