Monovision Treatment Introduced by New Vision Eye Center

Dubai, November 3, 2015 (Newswire.com) - New Vision Eye Center, one of the leading eye clinics in Dubai, has introduced the monovision form of treatment for presbyopia, a problem related to focusing of the eye which affects almost everyone, beginning around the age of 40.

It’s a form of Lasik treatment and could be used to correct one eye for distance vision and the other eye for near vision. This would enable those wearing contact lenses to have one contact lense in one eye corrected for near vision and the contact lense in the other eye corrected for distance vision.

Although one eye would appear blurred when looking at distant objects and the other eye would be blurred when looking at close objects, with both eyes corrected for vision problems, it wouldn’t prove to be an issue for the wearer. It’s said that people rarely encounter problems with the ‘monovision’ system and that almost everyone gets used to it without any long-term problems.

There are two types of monovision known as mini-monovision and modified monovision. In the former, a lower magnifying power is added to the near vision lens to give the wearers, who may not need to do a lot of close-up work such as reading or who may not mind wearing glasses to read, sharper distance vision. The latter provides sharper distance vision as well as acceptable near vision to perform close-up tasks with a single vision contact lens on the distance eye and a bifocal contact lens on the near eye.

Lasik treatment enables the correction of refractive errors of the eye and monovision treatment is another form of Lasik. This form of treatment is now available in Dubai through New Vision Eye Center.
