Modern Dental Sedation Equipment in Chicago

Bucktown Dental Associates installed a state-of-the-art central system for nitrous oxide sedation.

Bucktown Dental Associates just installed a state-of-the-art central system for nitrous oxide sedation. Nitrous oxide is used in dentistry to provide light sedation when treating apprehensive patients. Nitrous oxide sedation is probably the safest of all sedation methods when used by a trained dentist and with fail-safe equipment. With a central sedation system, the nitrous and oxygen gas cylinders are placed in a separate room and gas is delivered to treatment rooms through pipes. The sedation equipment is placed in the treatment rooms. Central systems for dental sedation provide safety, cost savings for the patient, and flexibility.

A central system for nitrous oxide sedation monitors gas pressures and regulates the flow of nitrous oxide and oxygen in the pipes. This provides the highest levels of safety, and convenience. The system's sophisticated alarm gives both visual and audible alerts with any fluctuations in the gas pressure.

In a central system for dental sedation, the cylinders are stored in a location separate from the treatment rooms. Therefore, larger size cylinders are used which hold approximately ten times the amount of gas contained in the small cylinders associated with the portable systems. This significantly reduces cost of medical gases to the patient. In contrast, the small gas cylinders used with portable systems are far more expensive.

A central system for nitrous oxide sedation can supply multiple treatment rooms. This is particularly useful for offices where nitrous oxide sedation is routinely used such as the case at Bucktown Dental. As Dr. Elseweifi offers dental sedation for children, adults, and patients with special needs, an efficient system is necessary. This cannot be achieved with a portable sedation system.
