Miller, Dawson, Sigal & Ward Injury Attorneys Donate Thousands to Further Local High School Principal's Cause

Miller, Dawson, Sigal & Ward Injury Attorneys Donated to Principal of North Charleston High School

Local personal injury law firm, Miller, Dawson, Sigal & Ward Injury Attorneys, also known as the "Thumbs Up Guys", has fulfilled a pledge to donate a total of $5,000 to further North Charleston High School's principal's cause (most recently featured on The Today Show) of helping low-income students and their families.

Giving Back to the Community

Little did the Thumbs Up Guys of Miller, Dawson, Sigal & Ward Injury Attorneys know, but located directly across the street from their office was a selfless man going above and beyond to help his students and faculty. Principal Henry Darby of North Charleston High School has been working a third job at Walmart to raise money for his low-income students and their families.

"After hearing about Principal Darby's efforts, I knew our firm had to help. We always said giving back to the community was going to be a priority, and making a donation toward Mr. Darby's cause seemed like the least we could do," said Managing Attorney and Founding Partner, Brandon Dawson.

While a monetary donation felt like a step in the right direction, the Thumbs Up Guys wanted to do more. The law firm reached out to Mr. Darby and he graciously accepted a lunch invitation to discuss other ways the firm could help in the future.

"A great way to help after COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted is to speak to some of our classes directly. It's important for the students to hear from good role models," Principal Henry Darby said.

The Thumbs Up Guys plan to speak to North Charleston High School classes in the future and attend their October career fair. During this lunch, Mr. Darby was also presented with a donation check. The donation, totaling to $5,000, consists of $2,499.99 (plus one penny) in a direct donation pledged by the firm, along with an additional $2,500 matching community contributions donated directly to a corresponding GoFundMe campaign.

The GoFundMe campaign, started by Charleston County Saturdays (an affiliate of Matt O'Neill Real Estate), has now raised over $135,000 (and counting) towards Principal Darby's cause, which was also recently featured on a segment of The Today Show.
