Microblading Now Available at Savvy Cosmetics

Trend in permanent makeup, also known as eyebrow embroidery, microstroking and 3D brows, provides a natural look for eyebrows.

Savvy Cosmetics is proud to announce it has added microblading to an expanding list of beauty services offered at the International District boutique.

Owner Harumi Branch, who has more than eight years of experience as an esthetician, said her shop actually has been offering the service for the past two and a half years, though the recent popularity of microblading has brought in a new wave of interest.

"Most of the traditional eyebrow tattooing methods use a solid, filled look. Microblading looks more natural by creating hair strokes."

Microblading has been around for years in Asia, but it’s fairly new to the U.S.,” Branch said.

The art of microblading – also known as eyebrow embroidery, microstroking and 3D brows – is a form of cosmetic tattooing, done by using a manual tool. Unlike traditional eyebrow tattooing, however, microblading allows for a more natural look.

“Most of the traditional eyebrow tattooing methods use a solid, filled look,” Branch said. “Microblading looks more natural by creating hair strokes.”

The popularity of microblading has many beauty shops offering the service, but Branch warns consumers to be careful of where they get the service. Branch is a Certified Permanent Cosmetic Professional (CPCP) by the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals and is licensed with the Washington State Department of Licensing as a tattoo artist with Savvy Cosmetics registered as a licensed shop.

“Experience really matters,” she said. “There are so many things that could go wrong with shape, color selection, skin undertone, or technique. This is an advanced skill, and people need to have prior experience as a permanent makeup artist.”
