Michael Matone Is Back In Minnesota
Online, October 13, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Palm Beach County Floridian, Michael Matone, [AKA Dr. Michael Baglino, Ed. D.] a former St. Paul resident and graduate of Winona State University is making his rounds in the upper midwest. No, not as an inner city educator and professor of behavioral science guest speaker, but as an internationally recognized crooner. Michael Matone with his Minneapolis based band, the 'Masters of Jazz' will be heading to Prairies Edge Casino in Granite Falls this New Year's Eve. Headed by [Bloomington] Jefferson High School Music Director and jazz impresario, Jeff Levine, they will be performing the music of Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Bobby Darin, Latin and dance standards.
Michael was recently awarded 'Best Tribute Artist' by London based TalentGold. Paul Abrahams, TalentGold spokesman, explained that it was versatility and professionalism of Michael that led to the award. Paul says, "Michael is a true professional. He doesn't just go out and sing - he really entertains. That's the difference."
Along with NBA superstar Duane Wade and Miami Heat owner Micky Arison, he was also seleced 'Most Intriguing Florida Personality' by Florida Monthly Magazine. This as a result of an interesting combination of endeavors - college teaching, entertainment, and pet rights board member for Florida based 'Save-a-Pet'.
Success came quickly to Michael for when living in St. Paul in 1999, he decided to turn from Church choir volunteer to professional singer. He found himself singing at Senator hopeful Norm Coleman campaigns, President Bush Target Center fundraisers and then serenading the newly married Governor and Mrs. Charlie Crist after returning to Florida.
Despite having a successful academic career, Michael was drawn to singing. Why was this? Part lies in his background. The son of a professional singer who sang in New York and Europe, music filled his household as a youngster. Michael sang in everything from the church choir to Minnesota theater roles as a character actor. Michael is often accompanied by his wife and daughters as back-up dancers.
Born to entertain, Michael is now a regular at many Palm Beach society venues, performing at some of the most prestigious and luxurious hotels and resorts. His recent gigs include Trump's Mar-a-lago, Palm Beach Ritz-Carlton and with his 'Rat Pack' at the Boca Raton Mizner Amphitheatre to standing ovations and encore requests.
