The featured portraits were the result of Beldner's interest in how the media creates celebrity with images and how viewers interpret them. Beldner created what he calls "uber portraits" by collecting and layering the first 101 images returned by a Google search on each of the subject on a particular day.
The abstract portraits are of celebrities, sports figures, political, and spiritual leaders. Twelve were selected to be featured on iPad book cases. Solid Line also added 15 new cases featuring Richard Berenholtz's photographs of New York. Half of the images are from Berenholtz's most recent book, New York Deco, which highlights architectural details of New York City's most famous landmarks. The other half are panoramic views of the New York City skyline and photos of landmarks such as the Chrysler & Empire State buildings as well as the Statue of Liberty.
Similar to a hardback book cover, these iPad book cases are handcrafted for the original iPad and iPad 2. The artwork is printed onto the iPad cases using environmentally friendly inks.
