Mega Pastor Keion Henderson of The Lighthouse Church Prayed for the Safety of Hundreds of Children Returning Back to School
Houston, TX, September 9, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The prayer ceremony was followed by a free worship concert, as well as a meet & greet with Gospel star Earnest Pugh. The event was held at The LightHouse Church’s newly acquired worship building located at 6650 Rankin Rd in Humble, TX.
During the event, Pastor Keion prayed over hundreds of children from Houston and the surrounding areas that have just begun a new year of school. Tuesdays also serve as the church’s bible study night. Hundreds of people attended to hear the mega-pastor preach a sermon following the prayer.
“The last couple of years have been tragic for students across the nation. We’ve seen too many shootings and too many lives lost. I want to offer this special moment as a way of bringing our community together by having God’s Grace and protection set the tone for the upcoming school year,” said Pastor Keion Henderson.
The congregation received a great worship experience from the in-house ministries—the Radical Praise Choir under the direction of Keith Williams and the Remnant Praise Team under the direction of Dr. Earnest Pugh. The event was concluded by a free concert featuring Gospel star and Stellar Award nominee, Earnest Pugh, who also serves as the pastor of worship for The LightHouse Church.
"Giving birth to this my 8th CD was a special moment because I was able to do it amidst my Pastor [Keion D. Henderson] and my church family [The Lighthouse Church of Houston]. This particular CD is near and dear to my heart because it’s not a normal musical presentation, it is more of a prophetic flow to usher people into the very presence of GOD,” Dr. Pugh said.
Special Guests at the event included Deric Lewis and the Church Choir from Austin, Texas, Gospel Recording Artist George Powell and Minister John Paul McGee out of Atlanta, GA. Various local artists were also in attendance.
Pastor Henderson graduated from IPFW in 2004 with a degree in Organizational Communication and a minor in Organizational Leadership and Supervision (OLS). In college, God gave Pastor Henderson the inspiration to divert from sports to promote social empathy and religious growth as a profession. Pastor Henderson has since organized The Lighthouse Church, which is one of the fastest growing churches in Houston. Recently, he was nominated for a 2014 CNN Heroes award, launched his first book, The Christ Compass, and sustained growth with a new 65,000 square foot building for his Mega-Church, along with being the recipient of the 2014 Pastor of Excellence award. Pastor Henderson preaches from a progressive point of view. His deep-seeded involvement in community service
has led him to organize the largest Free Easter Expo in Houston, a red carpet walk for his congregation and the press at the Texas opening of The Son of God, and several dozen other like-minded events.
