Mayor of Divide Call for Candidates

The 2016 election is looking to get quite hairy

Teller County Regional Animal Shelter, a 501(c)(3) private, non-profit, animal welfare organization located in Divide, CO is preparing for this year’s election with a Call for Candidates for the Mayor of Divide. The primary focus of this unique election opportunity is to raise money for TCRAS. The secondary focus is to promote the businesses whose pets are running for Mayor of Divide and support the shelter’s cause and mission of “Forever improving the lives of animals in our community” and the Pikes Peak Region.

“We are sad to report that Mayor Pa Kettle is bow-wowing down and does not plan to run in this year’s
election,” said TCRAS Executive Director Mary Steinbeiser, “The next Mayor will certainly have some big ears to fill.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and volunteers at TCRAS for the wonderful things they do for pets,” announced Mayor Pa Kettle at a recent dog-gone press conference. “I have enjoyed my term as the Mayor of Divide and worked hard to raise awareness for the many wonderful pets that are available for adoption at TCRAS. I never spent time in a shelter myself, but I know the companion pets who are there long for a loving family they can call their own.”

Each year, nearly 800 dogs and cats in need - lost, abandoned, homeless, abused, or neglected - find loving hands, warm beds, and nourishing meals at TCRAS until they are reunited with their owners or adopted into new homes and families. “TCRAS is a wonderful place because they take such good care of all the animals,” Mayor Pa Kettle explained, “Before they are adopted, each pet is spayed or neutered, brought current on their vaccinations, microchipped and sent home with a free health exam.”

TCRAS is currently accepting applications for the first 12 furry, feathered and/or quilled candidates that work or live at their person’s place of employment. Campaign details and applications are available at TCRAS or online at http://tcrascolorado.org/events/event/mayor-of-divide/. The deadeline to submit completed applications is Feb. 5, 2016.
