Online, June 4, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Last night, after months of anticipation, Master Wilderness Photographer Rodney Lough Jr. unveiling his newest image, Cathedral Forest. The event packed his San Francisco Wilderness Collection Gallery, the largest single-artist gallery in the world, with Rodney's fans and collectors, all of whom were eager to be among the first to see the photograph. They were not disappointed.
Cathedral Forest is a beautiful panoramic image glowing brilliantly with the golden colors of Oregon poplars at the height of their fall splendor. An arch and vaulted ceiling is formed by the rows of stately white trees where they line up straight with the camera's point of view, reminiscent of the vaulted ceiling of a medieval cathedral. The eye wanders pleasantly among the maze of endless trees and dazzling leaves, finding beautiful new details everywhere it looks.
When it came time for the unveiling, everyone gathered around the massive black-draped photograph. After a bit of behind-the-scenes storytelling, Rodney dramatically whipped the sheet away, and the crowd gasped. The gigantic 45"x120" image dominated the entrance to the gallery, and it seemed like you could walk amongst the trees.
The new image wasn't the only surprise. As part of the unveiling, Rodney revealed to the crowd that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Cathedral Forest photograph would be donated to benefit those whose lives had been devastated by the powerful tornadoes that recently tore through Oklahoma.
The event was a lively one, with laughter, mingling, tasty hors d'oeuvres, glasses of some of California's finest wines and a pleasant soundtrack. Rodney was the star of the show, coversing with his fans, telling stories from the trail and signing copies of Stand Here, Wilderness Collections Volume III, his fantastic new book.
