Marriage Proposal Book Offers a Helping Hand to Prospective Grooms

Husband-and-wife writing duo Carmelo and Andrea Di Salvo have teamed up to offer help to creatively-challenged men with their new book, Creative Marriage Proposals.

HEPPNER, Ore., June 14, 2010 - Husband-and-wife writing duo Carmelo and Andrea Di Salvo have teamed up to offer help to creatively-challenged men with their new book, Creative Marriage Proposals.

Creative Marriage Proposals: How to Pop the Question...with Panache is geared toward men who are ready to pop the question but don't quite know how. The 171-page book offers prospective grooms more than 60 different templates for creative proposals, as well as tips on how to prepare for the event. Carmelo Di Salvo, DSL says the couple wrote the book to fill a need.

"When a man is ready to propose to his girlfriend, one of the first things he asks himself is, 'How can I make this a really memorable proposal, one that she'll like and that will really stand out?'" Carmelo Di Salvo says. "It's a lot of work to prepare something out of the ordinary. Most men's hearts are in the right place, but they need a little help to get over that creative hump and plan something really exciting."

Though there are other books and websites geared toward marriage proposal advice, the Di Salvos feel they offer a unique perspective as a married couple.

"We're not offering advice on something we haven't experienced ourselves," says Andrea Di Salvo, a freelance writer. "Plus, we offer both sides of the coin...what a woman wants and what a man is willing to do to make her dreams come true."

The pair combined their different backgrounds-business and writing-to create a wide variety of proposals geared toward every possible scenario. Creative Marriage Proposals contains sections on classic romantic proposals, seasonal proposals, hobby-related proposals and proposals with a touch of whimsy.

"We really tried to cover everything a couple might want in a proposal," Carmelo Di Salvo says. "Candlelight and flowers, bungee jumping, a suit of armor and a horse...we have it all."

Though the couple recognizes that it's not always men doing the asking, they chose to gear the book toward men anyway.

"While we realize it's not always going to be a man popping the question," says Andrea Di Salvo, "we also realize we can't be all things to all people. Since men are still the largest percentage of people making marriage proposals, we chose to target them rather than make the book all-inclusive but ineffective."

Most of all, though, the Di Salvos hope the book helps men who need some inspiration to make that meaningful moment extra-special.

"That's why we chose to make the book available from lulu.com in a variety of formats," says Carmelo Di Salvo. "We don't expect to get on Oprah's book list. If we can help a few guys create a memorable moment for themselves and their fiances, that will be enough."
