M. Brandon Parrott, M.D., Ph.D., Joins Center For Sight

Center For Sight, the premier multi-physician vision, hearing, cosmetic and skin care practice in Southwest Florida, today announced the addition of M. Brandon Parrott, M.D., Ph.D., to its team of nationally recognized ophthalmologic physicians.

Brandon Parrott, M.D., Ph.D., to its team of nationally recognized ophthalmologic physicians. Dr. Parrott is an accomplished vitreo-retinal surgeon, and will begin accepting new patients at Center For Sight's Venice, Englewood and North Port locations starting in May 2012.

Dr. Parrott is a fellowship-trained retina specialist with specific expertise in diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment and ocular trauma. He completed both his ophthalmology residency and vitreo-retinal fellowship at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami. Following his fellowship, he was selected to serve as Chief Resident of the top-ranked residency program in the nation and served as an instructor and Director of Ocular Trauma at Bascom Palmer.

Dr. Parrott was a summa cum laude graduate in Biomedical Engineering and Biochemistry from the University of Tennessee, and he graduated with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he completed a combined M.D./Ph.D. program as part of the NIH-Medical Scientist Training Program. He has authored peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and abstracts in the areas of ocular trauma, ocular infection, ocular pathology, gene therapy and retinopathy of prematurity. He has presented his research at national and international academic conferences, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists.
