Longhorns to Kick Off 2017 Season on Brand New Surface at Disch-Falk Field

The recently installed FieldTurf DoublePlay surface is the University of Texas' sixth FieldTurf field currently on campus

FieldTurf has once again been chosen by the University of Texas; this time for their Disch-Falk Field, the Longhorns’ baseball stadium. This new surface replaces the FieldTurf field that was installed back in 2008, and which has been the host of countless exciting games over the course of the last eight years. The FieldTurf DoublePlay surface is nearing completion and will be ready in time for the Longhorns 2017 season.

The DoublePlay product line is designed to be completely customizable to the needs of baseball clients by controlling the speed and pace of the baseball through innovative fiber and infill technology. Such customization allows all baseball programs to get the field they want.

Our old FieldTurf field has served us extremely well over the course of the past eight years. Our players have enjoyed its playability and consistency, and as a result, we had no doubts about selecting FieldTurf to replace it. We're thrilled to begin a new chapter with this brand new high quality playing surface.

Jeff Wakefield, Assistant Athletics Director, Athletic Grounds

The replacement of Disch-Falk Field is one of the many recent FieldTurf installations on campus. In the past four years, FieldTurf has installed more than 600,000 square feet of turf on University of Texas campus including the Longhorn’s Football Indoor Practice Facility in 2012, DKR Memorial Stadium in 2013, and Whitaker Intramural fields this past May.

“We are thrilled to have University of Texas choose FieldTurf once again for their athletic program,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “The Longhorns will have an innovative high performance field that they can be proud of for many years to come.”

With over 40 game fields currently in use at the NCAA D-1 level for baseball, the Longhorns join an impressive list of baseball teams that play and/or practice on FieldTurf DoublePlay systems such as Oregon State University, Rutgers University, University of Illinois, University of Louisville and the University of Oregon, to name a few.
