Local Hillsborough Mother and Social Entrepreneur On Her Way to the BET AWARDS
Online, June 27, 2014 (Newswire.com) - With a background in Management and Information Technology and no experience in the jewelry industry, Ragini Mittal took a big plunge and launched Blingo Jewels just a few months back.
The mother of two explains, "My sole purpose was to provide affordable fashion to working women and make it easy for them to style every outfit with a unique and glamorous accessory."
She approached Lisa Gal from Hollywood Swag Bags who graciously offered her the gift bag opportunity for the BET AWARDS.
Mittal recruited her team in India to pull together signature pieces for this exciting event. She wanted samples that would best represent the distinctive creative style of Blingo Jewels. "My anxiety level was high as I had never done this before. After about 3 weeks, an email from Lisa confirmed that the committee absolutely loved all three of my pieces. I was literally jumping for joy!" Mittal adds.
Mittal launched her brand as a way to provide fashion accessories at an affordable price, but her mission quickly became a way for providing means and confidence to the young girls and women at her workshop in New Delhi, India. Most of her pieces are handmade, giving her brand a unique style and her crafters take pride in their attentive workmanship which makes Mittal's designs look beautiful and flawless.
"I still remember the phone call I got from one of the workshop staff who feared losing her job one day. She asked me to keep sending orders in because she loved the working environment and her family was proud that she was doing something that society respected," Mittal explains.
"As a small business owner, I am proud of the opportunity to showcase my creations and talent to celebrities and Hollywood. This success is not just my own, it's also the success of the team that has worked to make this brand what it is today. My team is composed of mother, Chhaya Agarwal, without whom I don't think I would have taken this huge leap; my awesome husband, Abhinav Mittal, who has always supported me, and my dad, Rakesh Agarwal, for giving me those marketing tips to help my brand prosper!"
Blingo Jewels is not just about fashion, it's about providing the means to live a beautiful and empowered life for the young workers in India, hence Mittal's motivation to make the brand well known. "I'm proud that my Blingo Girls back in India love what they do," Mittal said.
