Local High School Students to Visit and Tour Automation Devices

Fairview, PA, February 17, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Automation Devices, Inc. (ADI), is opening their doors to a neighboring high school class to show them the ropes in their Fairview, Pa vibratory feeding systems manufacturing facility.  Over 40 tenth grade students currently enrolled in a Career Choices course will be spending their class time tomorrow at ADI getting a tour of the plant and exploring the numerous career options and skills ADI employees possess.

ADI President Kevin Smith is excited that ADI is able to be part of this student-focused learning opportunity and always welcomes organized groups for plant visits.  “We’ve done this in the past and I’m happy we were extended the request to be part of this valuable coursework again this year,” says Smith.  “A simple walk through and company overview provides these students so many benefits on a variety of levels.  Number one, it gives them the opportunity to look at a local business that most of them probably didn’t know existed.  It’s very important for all residents – young and old – to be aware of the businesses that reside in and support the local community,” says Smith.

Smith also hope that one of the most important considerations visitors take away, is a wider perspective of manufacturing as a whole.  “People often have an antiquated view of manufacturing,” explains Smith.  “Many manufacturing facilities, including ours, require a very skilled workforce.  At ADI, we depend on a strong collaboration between engineering and our builders with skills that include troubleshooting and problem solving – thinking outside of the box, to yield unique results for each individual customer’s specific job requirements.  Manufacturing is so much more than a machine operator pushing a button.”
