Local Cancer Organization Announces Annual Spirit Awards
Online, February 24, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Support Connection, Inc., which provides free support services to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, has announced the recipients of their 2010 Spirit Awards. The award presentation will take place during Support Connection's 13th Annual Gala on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at 7 p.m. at Colonial Terrace, 119 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY. The Spirit Awards are given each year to honor those who contribute to the organization's mission by providing inspiration, time, talent and other resources.
This year's Spirit Award recipients are:
SPIRIT OF HOPE AWARDS: Support Connection's Peer Counselors: Tina Coyle, Granite Springs, NY; Andrea Karl, Putnam Valley, NY; and Robin Perlmutter, Briarcliff Manor, NY: Honored for their kindness, compassion, and dedication, and for making a positive difference in the lives of so many people living with breast or ovarian cancer who have come to Support Connection for help.
MARIA RUBINO JENNINGS SPIRIT OF CARING AWARD: Amy Sayegh and "Community Cares": Mahopac, NY: Honored for exemplifying Maria's belief in helping others. Under Amy's leadership, "Community Cares" supports families in medical crisis with meals, laundry and cleaning services during cancer treatment and other illnesses.
SPIRIT OF GIVING AWARD: Douglas Dill, Yorktown Heights, NY: Honored for his numerous years of consistent, selfless, and generous support of Support Connection's mission.
SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARDS: Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, Lagrangeville, NY; and The Beth C. Tortolani Foundation, Manhasset, NY: Honored for their long-term commitment to Support Connection's mission, enabling the organization to maintain and enhance their counseling services.
HUMANITARIANS OF THE YEAR: Robin and Gary Murphy and the staff of Maid Brigade, Valhalla, NY: Honored for their generosity which helps lighten the day-to-day load of people affected by cancer, as well as their time and efforts to increase awareness about Support Connection's mission and to raise funds their programs and services.
