Live Performance by Local Band "DNA" at the Red Oak Diner and Lounge
Hazlet, NJ - January 20, 2010 - DNA invites the public of Hazlet and surrounding towns to a night of Dinner and Dance, on January 23rd 2010, at the Red Oak Diner and Lounge, located at 2973 Route 35 N , Hazlet , New Jersey.
The Red Oak has been a part of the New Jersey diner community for more than 40 years. This restaurant was established in Hazlet, NJ in 1966 and has been family owned and operated ever since.
DNA, which officially represents the names of the partners - Devon and Athenia, was formed in 2009 when the two musicians made the decision to combine talents.` They have since gone on the perform at weddings, private parties, bars, clubs, and festivals in New York and New Jersey and recently started recording their own music.
Originally from the Caribbean country of Dominica, Athenia's passion lies within her self-produced music, and onstage live performances. After first picking up a microphone at age 3, Athenia envisioned one day making her own album, and performing her creations to large crowds. Athenia's magnificent voice and musical ability could not be more beautifully complimented than with talented Devon Atherley.
Devon, of Trinidad, has been nicked named The Steelpan Maestro, a name which he bears with pride today as he performs the Steeldrum or Pan as it is commonly known. This pitched percussion instrument, which is tuned chromatically, and made from a 55 gallon drum of the type that stores oil is indigenous to Caribbean Island Trinidad. In addition to performing on the drums, Devon is also a skilled keyboardist and studio producer, who has worked with local bands, solo artists and also on several cruise ships that toured the Caribbean.
In the past months DNA has been performing venues along the Jersey Shore including - The Dockside, Water's Edge, Ocean Place Spa and Resort and The Old Mill Inn. In addition to the recurrent performances the group entertains at private parties and special events in the five boroughs of New York City.
DNA is also planning the release of its self produced songs "Ai Neta" , "No" and "Cry", all three songs are a cross over into the pop genre with a Caribbean flavor. When performed live, the Steeldrum is added to accentuate the Caribbean nature of the song and its performers.
