Moxie Sozo, a nationally recognized agency located in the heart of downtown Boulder, Colorado, organized the Haiti Poster Project just three days after the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

The Haiti Poster Project was a successful endeavor that collaborated artwork from 500 designers in more than 25 countries throughout the world. It garnered global media attention within days of its launch, and has since procured thousands of dollars for Haiti earthquake victim relief.

As the organizer of the Haiti Poster Project, Steiner was fortunate to work with the highly acclaimed, industry-leading Pentagram Design (www.pentagram.com), which operates offices in New York, London, Austin and Berlin.

Harry Pearce, Pentagram Design Partner and Lead Designer of the winning Haiti Poster Project, has produced work that encompasses many disciplines, including spatial design, identity, print, packaging and of course, posters.

Pearce is a member of the advisory board for Witness, and has worked with Peter Gabriel for the human rights charity for more than 17 years. In 2009, HarperCollins published Pearce's first book, which was a collection of typographic nonsense titled Conundrums.

The Haiti Poster Project supersedes Moxie Sozo's initial humanitarian design effort for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, appropriately dubbed The Hurricane Poster Project.

Steiner organized a group of 185 international designers and artists to create and submit posters that were sold online to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims and for the American Red Cross organization. More than 180 different limited-edition series of posters were produced, raising more than $50,000.

"The effort raised tens of thousands of dollars, and many of the posters won major design awards. The project was exhibited around the U.S. and Europe, featured in several books and spawned at least two other 'Poster Projects,'" Steiner said.

In 2007, as a result of this tremendous initiative and its successful outcome, Steiner was presented with the Red Cross's highest honor - the Circle of Humanitarians Award.

"Ultimately, The Hurricane Poster Project consumed thousands of hours of our time, but didn't make us (as an agency) any money," Steiner continued. "It was however, the most fulfilling experience we've ever had as a company."
