Leading Uro-Radiologist Dr Uday Patel Joins Consultant Staff At King Edward VII's Hospital
Online, July 12, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The imaging department plays a vital role within the hospital, which has recently undergone a major upgrade. As part of this focus on the imaging department, Dr Patel was invited to join the staff at the Hospital due to his experience and sub-speciality interest.

The King Edward VII's Hospital is one of the few hospitals in the UK who appoint their consultant staff by invitation only. This is in order to ensure that only the highest quality of hospital consultants have admitting rights to the hospital.

Dr Patel is a leader in uro-radiology and his research on diagnosis and staging of prostate cancer, prostate biopsy and its complications is highly regarded. He is also a member of the Prostate Cancer Advisory Group and the Prostate Cancer Scientific Reference Group. This, combined with his successful book on transrectal ultrasounds and biopsy of the prostate, explains how he has become known as one of the leading specialists in his area. Dr Patel is also Head of Radiology at the world-renowned Prostate Centre in Wimpole Street, London.

King Edward VII's Hospital for Officers was established in 1899 by two sisters, Agnes and Fanny Keyser, who turned their home at 17 Grosvenor Crescent into a hospital for sick and wounded Officers, returning from the Boer War. King Edward VII became the Hospital's first patron.
