Leading Chinese law firm invitation to attend JCCT lunch briefing

Leading Chinese law firm, Lehman Lee & Xu has been invited to participate at a lunch briefing with Michelle O'Neill in Beijing.

US Acting Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, Michelle O'Neill, will be meeting Managing Director Edward Lehman as well as other members of the American Business of Chamber in China, (AmCham-China), and the United States-China Business Council (USCBC) during her visit to Beijing on 25th September 2009. The lunch will provide the US Acting Under Secretary the opportunity to inform members of the two organisations of important details and information of her Beijing meetings including discussions that occurred during the China-US Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) meeting.

Established in 1983, the JCCT was and still is used as a medium between the US and China for talks concerning trade and commercial issues, also playing a role resolving problems affecting US companies within China.

Michelle O'Neill scope of responsibilities includes leading the International Trade Administration (ITA), which involves the development of U.S. trade policy; identifies and resolves market access and compliance issues; promotes American competitiveness and the strength of U.S. companies in the global economy; administers U.S. trade laws; and undertakes a range of trade promotion and trade advocacy efforts.

Edward Lehman noted that 'the role that the JCCT plays is of great importance, and it will be of immense interest to note what progress and substantive steps have been discussed between the PRC and the US. Over the last few years, the JCCT have made important commitments within the fields of intellectual property, market access, health care, and agriculture. I'll look forward to learning of the new commitments made this year, and also to meeting the US delegation and member of both AmCham-China and USCBC.'
