Launch of the Nurocor Clinical Platform Revolutionizes the Use of Data Standards in Digitized Clinical Development

The Nurocor Clinical Platform wins distinguished submission honors in the TransCelerate Digital Data Flow (DDF) Hackathon with its broad range of functional capabilities supporting key data standards, clinical lifecycle activities, and processes, including study design, study planning, and EDC build automation.

Nurocor announced the launch of the Nurocor Clinical Platform (NCP) that provides a broad range of functional capabilities supporting key data standards, clinical lifecycle activities, and processes. NCP is built to be future-proof based on state-of-the-art open platform architecture and industry-leading deployment technologies. NCP enables the clinical development process with a full set of shared technical capabilities based on three core principles of modularity and flexibility; scalability, resilience, and security; and openness and pluggability.

In keeping with its goal of accelerating the clinical development process, TransCelerate held a Digital Data Flow hackathon designed to encourage the development of prototypes to further its vision of achieving automated dynamic study start-up readiness. Hackathon submissions were expected to express a digitized and configurable common data model; actualize the data model from protocol and study design through to schedule of activities and ultimately to automated downstream tool configuration (e.g., for an EDC/CDMS system); and support API and report-based access to the collected data. Not only was Nurocor one of the three distinguished submission winners, but the company went significantly beyond building a prototype in showcasing a production-ready open platform.

“The launch of NCP represents transformational change in the way data standards can drive efficient digitized clinical development,” said Alex Lazar, Nurocor President and founder. “We are excited to launch the NCP and are proud of the work our team has done to create a production-ready open platform that won distinguished submission honors at the TransCelerate hackathon.”

The Nurocor Clinical Platform helps companies accelerate clinical development by adopting the Lean Protocol™, an end-to-end approach to front load and parallelize clinical trial processes based on a collaborative environment for developing digital study protocols. Standards-driven digital protocol development is essential to Lean Protocol™, shortening the clinical trial life cycle by both controlling the critical path and by streamlining and automating downstream processes from protocol authoring to submission.

The Nurocor Clinical Platform is built on three core principles:

  • Modularity and Flexibility – Using microservices, supporting multiple programming languages, offering multiple data persistence platforms, being API-driven, offering a common UI framework, and being independent of cloud platform providers.

  • Scalability, Resiliency and Security – Applying industry-leading deployment technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker combined with a purpose-built API Gateway supporting pluggable authentication strategies.

  • Openness and Pluggability – Supporting loosely coupled integration via a federated API, with an internal platform integration via shared utility microservices and UI components.

NCP has achieved validated system status under CFR 21 Part 11 ensuring that clinical study practitioners get the accurate and complete results they need as they work to deliver new medical treatments to the public.
