Larson Electronics, a Texas-based company with over 40 years of experience spearheading the industrial lighting and equipment sectors, announced the release of a power distribution substation that converts 480V three-phase electrical current into single-phase 208Y/120V AC. This unit offers operators the ability to safely tap into and distribute 480V AC power from generators and direct grid power.

The MPD-460P7W-45KVA-6X120.20-1X208 power distribution system allows operators to power their 208Y and 120V equipment from a single system. The primary side allows operators to connect 480V line-in power via a 20-foot 6/4 SOOW line-in cord to one ADR3034 480V receptacle. The 6/4 SOOW is terminated in an IEC 60309 460P7W 60-amp pin/sleeve cord cap and brings 480V power to the NEMA 3R 60-amp 480V three-phase primary disconnect.

Larson Electronics’ power distribution system features a primary disconnect that features three 60-amp time delay fuses protecting one 60-amp 480V ADR3034 receptacle. This receptacle passes 480V three-phase to the transformer, which converts 480V three-phase power to 208Y/120V AC three-phase and passes the current to the secondary panel.

The secondary side feeds a NEMA 3R 125-amp 208Y/120V three-phase main lug panel, which features one 30-amp 208Y breaker protecting one 30-amp L21-30R twist-lock receptacle and six 20-amp 120V breakers protecting six 120V 20-amp 5-20R duplex GFCI receptacles. All receptacles on this unit are protected with weatherproof covers.

The transformer and load assembly are mounted on a 3/16” thick carbon steel mounting platform with the load center/distribution assembly mounted to a standard 2” by 2” by 1/8” thick square carbon steel tubing frame. This unit comes with forklift skid pockets, locking casters and a top located lifting eyelet. The transformer is grounded to the frame via a grounding lug that is provided. Suitable applications include indoor and outdoor use, construction sites, plant maintenance and turnarounds, and more.
