Larson Electronics Releases Portable Power Distribution Substation, 45 kVA, 480V to 208Y/120V 3PH
KEMP, Texas, September 25, 2019 (Newswire.com) - Larson Electronics, a Texas-based company with over 40 years of experience spearheading the industrial lighting and equipment sectors, announced the release of a 45 kVA portable power distribution substation that converts three-phase 480V AC electrical current to three-phase 208Y/120V AC. This substation provides operators the ability to safely tap into and distribute 480V AC power from generators and direct grid power. This unit gives operators the ability to power their 208V and 120V equipment from a single system.
The MPD-480.3P-45KVA-208Y.120-2X60A-12X20A portable power distribution substation features a primary side that allows operators to connect 480V line-in power via 25 feet of #8 Type W cord with a DS60 33-68043 cord cap that brings three-phase 480V power to the NEMA 3R 60-amp three-phase 480V disconnect. The primary side contains three 60-amp time delay fuses and passes the power to the transformer. The transformer converts 480V to three-phase 208Y/120V 60Hz and passes the current to the secondary side.
Larson Electronics’ portable power distribution system features a secondary side that feeds a NEMA 3R 125-amp three-phase 208Y/120V main breaker panel. The main breaker panel contains two 60-amp 3-pole 250V breakers that protect two 60-amp 120V/208V 560R9W receptacles and 12 20-amp 1-pole 125V breakers that protect 12 20-amp 125V 5-20R GFCI receptacles. All receptacles on this unit are equipped with waterproof covers.
The transformer and load assembly are mounted on a 3/16” thick carbon steel mounting platform and the load center/distribution assembly is mounted to a 2” by 2” by 1/8” square carbon steel tubing frame. This system comes with forklift skid pockets, locking casters and a top located lifting eyelet. The transformer is grounded to the frame via a grounding lug that is provided. Suitable applications include construction sites, plant maintenance and turnarounds, and more.
