Cleveland, OH - The 2010 Continental Cup International Youth Sports Festival was a huge success as 3,000 athletes from 6 continents and 16 different countries traveled to Cleveland this past July to compete in the AC Milan Continental Cup, Cleveland Indians Charities Continental Cup and the Cleveland Cavaliers Continental Cup tournaments. The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission is pleased to announce that lacrosse will be added in 2011 joining soccer, baseball and basketball.

International recruitment for lacrosse is underway with teams from Iroquois Nation, Peru, England and Wales already slated to participate. An estimated 40 boys and girls teams in U16 and U18 age groups from across the globe are expected to compete in the lacrosse tournament next summer from June 30 - July 3. Registration is currently open and welcome to premier, club and school teams.

The Continental Cup was the first ever created event of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and has come a long way since the first tournament in 2006. The vision for the Sports Festival remains to create a large, vibrant, annual civic event that celebrates internationalism, youth diversity and sportsmanship. Added to that are opportunities for cultural exchange, a spectacular Opening Ceremony and Parade of Athletes, Club Hard Rock Cafe Dance Party, Feature Games and a multitude of city attractions and entertainment. The Continental Cup was also recently recognized by the National Association of Sports Commissions as the nation's 2010 Outstanding Locally Created Event.
