RideCo's on-demand ridesharing service first launched in December 2020, and is now available in seven zones in LA County.

LA Metro Expands On-demand Service to 2 New Zones

RideCo Inc., an industry leader in on-demand transit technology, celebrates the upcoming launch of two more microtransit zones in LA County, making a total of seven zones as part of the Metro Micro service.

The new zones, Highland Park/Eagle Rock/Glendale and Altadena/Pasadena/Sierra Madre, will launch on June 27, 2021. Both zones will operate seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Service in the new zones can be booked via the Metro Micro app (available in both Apple and Google Play), online at book.metro-micro.net, or by calling 323.GO.METRO.

This new Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) service will provide fast, safe, and convenient trips around town without having to transfer. It was designed hand-in-hand with Metro's NextGen Bus Plan and will be available to passengers at an introductory rate of just $1 per trip.

Metro Micro will continue to operate safely in these two new zones, requiring passengers to wear face masks and reducing vehicle capacity by 50% to accommodate social distancing.

The Metro Micro service was initially launched in the Watts/Willowbrook and LAX/Inglewood zones in December 2020, with North Hollywood/Burbank, Compton/Artesia, and El Monte launching just one month later.

The service is expected to expand even further with the Northwest San Fernando Valley and the UCLA/Westwood/Century City zone by the fall of 2021.

"We are very excited about the continued expansion of the Metro Micro service in LA County," said RideCo Co-founder and CEO, Prem Gururajan. "We are fortunate to be working with an innovative team at Metro that is shaping the future of mobility and transit."
