KTMW Ends Dropped Programming with NVerzion Automation

Successfully completes "flash cut" to digital and simultaneous conversion to NVerzion at eleventh hour

NVerzion, a 20-year provider of automation control, monitoring and integrated storage management solutions, announced KTMW, a full-service independent religious broadcaster owned by Alpha and Omega Communications in Salt Lake City, made a last-minute switch to NVerzion to ensure the station's successful completion of a simultaneous flash cut from analog to digital broadcast, as well as the installation of a complete automation system to manage the new broadcast.

KTMW has provided the people of Utah and parts of Nevada, Wyoming, and Idaho Christian and secular programming since 2001. Granted an original construction permit after the FCC finalized the DTV allotment plan, KTMW did not receive a companion channel for a digital television station and therefore faced the daunting task of a "flash cut" switch from an analog broadcast to digital with minimal dead air time. Concurrently, KTMW was also committed to resolving an issue of their old automation system dropping an average of one paid program each day.

"We lost a client because of it," said Denny Ermel, General Manager for KTMW. "Our corporate office had already given me a check made out to another solution provider, but I wasn't feeling good about the decision. Then, at the last minute, I heard about Nverzion and it looked like a good fit for us. The install timeframe was very short, in fact, we were hardly ready when NVerzion was ready to flip the switch. We went off at 1:00 PM June 12th as an analog station and we were up again at 1:30 PM a fully functional digital channel. Our automation solution ran seamlessly through the entire conversion."

"It has been a distinct pleasure to work with KTMW, helping them meet the challenges of their deadline and their broadcast goals," said Reed Haslam, Director of Sales for NVerzion. "Truth is, there aren't any typical installations, but the flexibility of the NVerzion product line lends itself easily to installs like KTMW where the need is for a custom-tailored solution that fits the economy of today's budgets."

The station currently provides programming and services through a single standard definition channel. The NVerzion automation installation included NVerzion's Compact Lite package with NControl, NGest, NBase/NView, NTime, NPoint, as well as EMC device control with router interface giving KTMW the ability to fully automate and customize their station's operations according to their current requirements, while giving the station room to add additional channels in the future.
